Flying Wishes on Kites

Dana Children’s Hospital, Tel Aviv, May 2005

I initiated and organized a three day art workshop for the hospitalized children during the week of Israel’s Independence Day celebrations. The children, from all walks of life and religions, painted their wishes on kites as I photographed them. Their photos were then printed on a huge, 15-meter kite. On the last day of the workshop the children, with their doctors’ permission and with the assistance of local art students, were taken to a lovely garden on the hospital grounds, where they each flew their individual kites to the backdrop of the larger kite hanging high on the building’s walls.
