Fragility

Fragility is comprised of two images and a video piece. The images’ original color is manipulated and presented in human scale. The video documents surgery of the human body as filmed by a microscopic camera.

The injured organ is perceived in relation to space in aquatic life. The internal body expands into the external ocean, as the viewer becomes aware not only of the personal desire for open horizons, but also of the human temporal existence in the face of the infinite and vast ocean.

The ocean’s flow is a result of the undercurrents within, reflecting the relationship between the seen and the hidden. Similar to the ocean, a source of purification and cleansing, the repeated flow of blood purifies and cleanses the body, enabling a healing process to occur.
